By Amarjeet “Amy” Middar — culture lover, food enthusiast, and rooted in her faith

What if the hardest part isn’t what you’re carrying… but feeling like you have to carry it alone?
Hi, I’m Amarjeet, but most people call me Amy. I’m a registered counsellor intern working toward my full designation, and I offer virtual counselling across British Columbia. I like to show up alongside people in the messy, complicated parts of life and help them build a foundation that lets them feel steadier, more grounded, and able to hold their world with a little more ease.
Maybe you feel pulled between two worlds.
Wanting to honour your culture, your family, your values, while also trying to find your place in a Western society that can feel very different from what you were raised in.
Maybe you’re doing your best to balance it all — family, work, expectations, responsibilities — and somewhere along the way, you’ve started to feel overwhelmed.
It can show up in quiet ways:
Or in the ways no one else sees:
Over time, this kind of pressure can begin to impact your well-being, your relationships, and your sense of peace.
And still, many people carry it quietly. Especially when cultural expectations, family responsibilities, and life transitions add layers that aren’t always easy to talk about. You might feel like you need to stay strong for everyone else, even when you’re struggling inside.
You’re not alone in that. And you don’t have to navigate it alone either.
As someone who understands how culture, family values, religion, and lived experience shape the way we move through the world, I aim to create a space where all parts of you feel seen and understood — completely virtually.
Through online counselling, I offer a safe and accessible way to meet, no matter where you are in British Columbia. My intention is to offer a space where you can show up as you are:
My approach is always shaped around you, your story, your needs, and what you’re hoping for in your life. While I hold a deep understanding of South Asian experiences, I warmly welcome individuals of all cultures, faiths, and identities who are seeking support, healing, and growth.
Because strength isn’t about carrying everything on your own.
It’s about allowing yourself to be supported, too.
I offer virtual counselling sessions throughout British Columbia, along with a free 20-minute consultation to see if it feels like the right fit. Bonus ~ I only charge $80/session vs the standard $160/session. Let’s face it, counselling needs to stay affortable and accessible.
If you’ve been holding a lot on your own, this could be a place to start.
